Cherokee Rose Stud is located within an hour of Melbourne’s CBD. Situated in the Macedon Ranges, with views of the Cobaw Ranges the picturesque surrounds could be a world away.
The property provides first class accommodation for thoroughbred horses.
The Cherokee Rose Stud motto Simply The Best must always be a true representation of anything we do.
– Danny and Hanna Rose.
Founded in 2004, the drive behind the production stems from Danny’s fifteen years experience and involvement in the racing industry, not to mention the highly publicised Caulfield Cup ride on Inaflury. It was important for Danny and Hanna to develop a property with first class facilities and they remain dedicated to their reputation for delivering complete professional services.
In 2003 Danny and Hanna visited several studs in Europe, some of which were centuries old and still practiced traditional feeding methods. This inspiration in conjunction with expert advice has resulted in no expenses spared fencing, stables and land preparation.
Cherokee Rose Stud offers agistment, breeding and stallion services, foaling down, weaning and yearling education and sales preparation and horse transport to and from the stud.

Kilmore Partnership
Cherokee Rose Stud is proud to announce a renewed partnership with Kilmore Racing Inc. Country racing is a fantastic way to enjoy the competitive sport and the social entertainment. Cherokee Rose Stud believes it is crucial to support country racing – the vast majority of horses begin their racing careers in the country.
Country racing provides communities with tradition and significance – a sense of occasion, great pride in annual events and history.
Kilmore Racing Club offers patrons a huge range of entertainment options with the centrepiece being the 50+ top class Turf and Harness Race Meetings per year. Regular entertainment events are also scheduled throughout the year.
Kilmore Racing Trackside offer exceptional catering packages, winning won of Melbourne’s top awards for hospitality.
Prior to 1850 horse racing at Kilmore was staged over rolling ground where courses were mapped between two points in a simple “out and back” design. That undulating character was retained when the track moved to its present site in 1865 and is quite different from the flat tracks favoured by most Clubs. The Club in it’s present form can be traced to 1900 and over the years has played host to all the champion jockeys, trainers and horses of their time.
Cherokee Rose Stud will host a number of race days throughout the year, contributing race names and prizes.
